Hornady Precision Hunter .300 PRC 212gr ELD-X

Precision Engineering for Long-Range Hunting

Hornady's Precision Hunter ammunition represents a thoughtful approach to modern hunting ballistics. Built around the .300 PRC cartridge—a 21st-century magnum design—this ammunition combines intelligent case design with premium bullet technology to deliver both accuracy and terminal performance.

The .300 PRC Advantage

The .300 PRC is a non-belted magnum cartridge based on the 375 Ruger case. This design choice matters: it provides better chamber alignment than traditional belted magnums and allows improved feeding from fixed magazines. The cartridge headspaces off a 30-degree shoulder and uses a standard .532" magnum bolt face, making it compatible with modern rifle platforms.

ELD-X Bullet Technology

The 212-grain ELD-X (Extremely Low Drag eXpanding) bullet is the heart of this load:

• Heat Shield Tip: Resists aerodynamic heating and maintains shape throughout the trajectory, preserving ballistic coefficient
• Streamlined Design: Secant ogive with optimum boattail geometry for superior aerodynamic efficiency
• AMP Jackets: Highly concentric construction ensures consistent performance
• InterLock Ring: Works with the thick jacket shank to retain 50-60% weight at conventional ranges and 85-90% at extended ranges

Performance Characteristics

Velocity: 2860 feet per second
Ballistic Coefficient: .336
Weight Retention: 50-90% depending on impact velocity

At 0-400 yards, the bullet expands continuously throughout penetration. At 400+ yards, the Heat Shield tip drives backward to initiate controlled expansion with a large mushroom and deep penetration.

Consistency and Reliability

Powder and primers are carefully selected for shot-to-shot consistency. The clean-burning propellants and minimal case runout deliver the accuracy you expect from factory ammunition. Each box contains 20 rounds.

This is ammunition built for hunters who understand that precision and reliability matter when the moment of truth arrives.
