Hornady PTX Universal Powder Drop Expander
The Hornady PTX Universal Powder Drop Expander streamlines your reloading workflow by combining case mouth expansion with powder charging in a single operation.
Key Features
- Multiple diameter options available to match your specific caliber requirements
- Eliminates separate steps by expanding case mouths directly during powder drop
- Compatible with Hornady systems including the Quick Change Powder Die and case-activated powder drop mechanisms
- Simple installation — insert into the powder die with the powder measure mounted on top
How It Works
Traditional reloading requires a dedicated case expander die to open case mouths before powder charging. The PTX Universal Powder Drop Expander consolidates this process. Simply insert the appropriately sized expander into your powder die, and as you charge cases, the expander simultaneously opens the case mouth to your desired diameter.
Available Sizes
Diameters include .355, .357, .400, .430, .451, .452, .475, .500 inch, and others to cover handgun and rifle calibers.
Why It Matters
For serious reloaders, efficiency counts. Fewer die changes mean faster loading sessions and less setup time between caliber changes. The PTX system delivers precision expansion without the complexity of traditional multi-step processes.
