Why This Hatchet Works
A good hatchet is about balance—weight distribution, blade geometry, and handle ergonomics working together. SOG has invested in proper metallurgy and construction here. The 5Cr15MoV steel holds an edge well and resists the corrosion that comes with field use. The micarta handle won't slip when wet, and it won't crack in cold weather like wood sometimes does.
This is a tool that earns its place in your pack or truck bed. It's not oversized or unnecessarily heavy, which means you'll actually carry it and use it when the moment demands.
