The Modern Compact 1911
Rock Island Armory's Rock Ultra CCO represents a thoughtful evolution of the classic 1911 platform, specifically engineered for those who demand both capability and concealability. This is a serious defensive pistol built on proven principles.
Design and Ergonomics
The CCO combines an Officer-size aluminum frame with a Commander-length slide—a proven formula that balances firepower with carry comfort. The shorter grip profile is the key to discretion; it minimizes printing under a cover garment while maintaining the handling characteristics shooters expect from a 1911.
Sights and Controls
- Front Sight: Dovetail-mounted fiber optic for rapid target acquisition
- Rear Sight: LPA MPS1 type adjustable sight for precise zeroing
- Hammer and Trigger: Skeletonized design with adjustable over-travel stop
- Safety: Ambidextrous for left and right-handed shooters
- Trigger Pull: Factory-tuned 4 to 6 pounds—crisp and predictable right out of the box
Barrel and Reliability
The 4.25-inch button-rifled barrel is supported by a full-length guide rod, ensuring consistent lockup and longevity. This is the kind of attention to detail that separates working guns from range toys.
Finish and Grip
A tough Parkerized and Anodized coating protects against corrosion and wear. G10 tactical grips provide a secure purchase in all conditions—wet or dry, gloved or bare-handed.
The Bottom Line
The Rock Ultra CCO is a no-nonsense 1911 that respects the platform's heritage while addressing modern carry requirements. Chambered in .45 ACP with a 7-round magazine, it delivers the stopping power and reliability that serious shooters have trusted for over a century.
