Cimarron Model 1886 Lever-Action Rifle 45-70 Govt

A Rifle with Legendary Pedigree

The Model 1886 stands as one of the most significant rifle designs in American firearms history. Patented by John Browning in 1884, this lever-action rifle became Winchester's premier big game repeater and earned the respect of hunters and adventurers worldwide—most notably President Theodore Roosevelt, who favored it for dangerous game hunting in Africa.

Design and Construction

This Cimarron reproduction honors the original's proven mechanics while offering modern reliability. The rifle features:

• Receiver: Color case-hardened frame with authentic period appearance
• Barrel: 26-inch octagonal barrel, blued finish, 1:18-inch twist rate optimized for 45-70 Government ammunition
• Stock: Straight-grip walnut furniture with crescent steel butt plate
• Sights: Blade front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight for practical accuracy
• Capacity: 8 rounds in the tubular magazine
• Weight: 9 pounds—substantial enough for serious hunting

Why the 1886 Matters

The 1886's lever-action design delivers rapid follow-up shots without removing the rifle from your shoulder. The 45-70 Government cartridge remains one of the most versatile and powerful rifle rounds available, suitable for elk, moose, and dangerous game at reasonable hunting distances. The octagonal barrel and case-hardened receiver aren't merely cosmetic—they represent authentic craftsmanship that appeals to hunters and collectors who understand rifle heritage.

A Timeless Choice

Whether you're drawn to the 1886 for its historical significance, its proven hunting capability, or simply its elegant design, this Cimarron rifle delivers the authentic experience that modern production rifles cannot replicate.
