Savage RXR22 Semi-Auto Rimfire Rifle 22 LR

Savage RXR22: The Modern 22 LR Platform

The Savage RXR22 represents a thoughtful approach to the rimfire rifle market. It combines reliable blowback operation with genuine customization potential—a rare combination at this price point.

Design and Construction

The rifle features a rugged polymer receiver with an integral Picatinny rail on top, providing a solid foundation for optics and accessories. The 16.5-inch precision button-rifled barrel wears a recessed target crown and comes threaded (1/2x28) for suppressors or muzzle devices. This is a rifle built for both current use and future modification.

Ergonomics and Handling

At just 4.6 pounds, the RXR22 handles like a feather. The synthetic stock comes in Flat Dark Earth with interchangeable grip inserts, allowing you to customize the feel to your hand. Quick-release sling studs and an underbarrel Picatinny rail provide multiple mounting options. The trigger breaks cleanly at 5-7 pounds—respectable for a rimfire platform.

Magazine and Compatibility

The 10-round rotary magazine features a polymer body with metal feed lips and includes a last-round bolt hold-open feature. More importantly, the RXR22 accepts Ruger 10/22-compatible magazines, triggers, and barrels—opening a vast aftermarket ecosystem for upgrades and customization.

Practical Applications

Whether you're introducing a new shooter to the sport, plinking at steel, or hunting small game, the RXR22 delivers. The threaded barrel and Picatinny rail make it an excellent platform for suppressed shooting or tactical-style training.
