Sierra GameKing .308 180gr Spitzer Boat Tail Bullets

Sierra GameKing .308 180-Grain Spitzer Boat Tail Bullets

Engineered for Long-Range Hunting

Sierra's GameKing line represents a proven approach to hunting bullet design. The .308 180-grain Spitzer Boat Tail (#2160) combines the aerodynamic advantages of match-grade bullets with the terminal performance hunters demand.

Superior Ballistic Design

The distinctive boat tail profile is the key to these bullets' performance:

• Streamlined tapered base reduces aerodynamic drag significantly
• Higher retained velocity downrange means more energy at impact
• Flatter trajectory requires less holdover at distance
• Exceptional wind resistance to both crosswinds and vertical drift

Performance Specifications

• Caliber: .308 (7.62mm)
• Weight: 180 grains
• Sectional Density: .271
• Ballistic Coefficients:
  • .501 at 2700 fps and above
  • .506 between 2700 and 1700 fps
  • .505 at 1700 fps and below

Proven Track Record

These bullets have earned their reputation through competition and field use. The 180-grain #2160 won the prestigious 1000-yard Wimbledon Cup in 1953—a testament to their inherent accuracy potential. Modern shooters continue to rely on them for silhouette competition and long-range hunting.

Hunting Performance

Designed for medium to large game with medium-to-large capacity cartridges, these bullets deliver:

• Reliable expansion even at reduced impact velocities typical of long-range shots
• Good penetration for ethical, effective hunting
• Match-grade accuracy from properly tuned hunting rifles
• Ease of loading with precise concentricity for consistent results

The 180-grain weight works best when fired at maximum hunting velocities, making it ideal for the .308 Winchester and larger cartridges. Whether you're hunting at extended range or competing in precision rifle events, these bullets deliver the ballistic advantage serious hunters expect.
