Ed Brown EVO-KC9 9mm 1911 Carry Pistol

The Ed Brown EVO-KC9: A Modern Classic 1911

The Evolution KC9 represents the pinnacle of compact 1911 design, combining time-honored 1911 controls with modern carry-focused engineering. This is a serious defensive handgun built on proven principles.

Design & Construction

Ed Brown's revolutionary Bobtail frame design reduces overall length while maintaining full 1911 ergonomics. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion, and the exclusive Snakeskin treatment on the forestrap and Bobtail housing provides superior grip texture without aggressive edges that snag clothing.

The 4" slide has been substantially thinned for weight reduction—approximately 34 ounces unloaded—making this pistol genuinely comfortable for all-day carry. A custom 7-top cut with special front and rear serrations reduces glare and enhances the gun's distinctive appearance.

Sights & Controls

• Front Sight: Orange HD XR night sight for rapid target acquisition in low light
• Rear Sight: Smaller "Tactical Edge" U-notch design for faster sight picture
• Safety: Single-side carry profile thumb safety—standard 1911 operation
• Slide Stop: Recessed design sits flush with the slide for snag-free carry

Mechanical Features

The EVO-KC9 retains 100% 1911 controls and handling characteristics. It uses standard 1911 magazines and grips (cut for Bobtail compatibility), an external extractor for reliability, and a bull barrel for accuracy. The flat wire recoil spring system is proven and easy to maintain.
