Sierra Tipped MatchKing .224 77 Grain
Sierra has elevated their legendary MatchKing line by adding an acetal resin tip to create the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet. This enhancement delivers measurable performance improvements for precision shooters.
Key Features
- Reduced Drag: The acetal resin tip significantly lowers aerodynamic drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient for flatter trajectories and better downrange performance
- Magazine Compatibility: The 77-grain design allows seating to an overall length that feeds reliably in M16/AR15 magazines, making it ideal for modern sporting rifles
- Match-Grade Accuracy: Built on Sierra's proven MatchKing heritage, recognized worldwide for record-setting precision
- Quantity: 500 bullets per box
Technical Specifications
- Caliber: .224 inch
- Weight: 77 grains
- Barrel Twist: Requires 1:8" or faster
Important Notes
These bullets are engineered for precision rifle competition and target shooting. While commonly used for varmint hunting, they are not recommended for most hunting applications due to their design characteristics. For hunting, consider Sierra's Hornet Blitz or Varminter bullets, which provide more reliable expansion at equivalent velocities.
The #7177 was introduced in January 2015 and remains a favorite among competitive shooters and precision rifle enthusiasts.
