FN M249S PARA 5.56 Semi-Auto Rifle, 16.1" Barrel

FN M249S PARA: Modern Sporting Rifle Heritage

The FN M249S PARA represents a significant evolution in semi-automatic rifle design, drawing directly from the proven M249 platform currently fielded by military forces worldwide. This is not a civilian compromise—it's a purpose-built rifle engineered for serious shooters who demand reliability and versatility.

Design Philosophy

The PARA configuration was originally developed for airborne operations, armored infantry, and close-quarters combat scenarios. That heritage translates to a compact, maneuverable platform without sacrificing the core strengths that make the M249 system legendary for reliability and sustained fire capability.

Key Features

• Barrel: 16.1" chrome-lined, optimized for 5.56x45mm NATO
• Magazine System: Dual-feed capability accepts standard 30-round AR magazines or 200-round ammunition belts
• Stock: Rotating and telescoping buttstock for shooters of varying builds
• Ergonomics: Hydraulic recoil buffer reduces felt recoil; non-slip buttplate ensures secure shouldering
• Accessories: Includes folding carry handle and integrated bipod
• Optics Ready: Flat-top receiver accepts standard Picatinny rail optics
• Finish: Flat Dark Earth for professional appearance and corrosion resistance

Practical Advantages

The dual-feed system provides genuine flexibility—run standard magazines for typical shooting, or deploy belt ammunition for sustained-fire scenarios. Field conversion to standard M249 configuration takes approximately 30 seconds, making this rifle adaptable to evolving mission requirements.

The hydraulic recoil buffer and adjustable stock combine to create a platform that manages recoil effectively while accommodating shooters across different body types and shooting styles.

The Bottom Line

This is a rifle built on decades of military service experience. It delivers the accuracy and reliability you expect from FN, with the practical versatility that serious shooters appreciate.
