Hornady Custom Lite 12 Gauge 300gr FTX Slug

Hornady Custom Lite 12 Gauge Shotgun Slugs

The Custom Lite line represents a thoughtful solution for shooters who want effective slug performance without punishing recoil. These 12 gauge loads deliver approximately 40% less felt recoil compared to standard slug ammunition—a meaningful reduction that extends shooting sessions and improves accuracy for hunters of all experience levels.

Performance Specifications

• Projectile: 300 grain FTX slug
• Muzzle Velocity: 1,575 fps
• Muzzle Energy: 1,652 ft-lbs
• Effective Range: 150 yards for whitetail-sized game
• Box Count: 5 rounds per box

Design and Features

The FTX bullet design incorporates a sharp polymer tip that increases ballistic coefficient, allowing the slug to maintain velocity and energy downrange. Upon impact, the projectile expands reliably for consistent, lethal performance. This same proven projectile is used in Hornady's standard SST shotgun slug line.

Modified fast-burning propellants keep pressures manageable while still delivering the energy needed for ethical hunting. The result is ammunition that performs effectively on medium to large game without the shoulder punishment of conventional loads.

Ideal Applications

These slugs work particularly well in rifled-barrel shotguns, where their aerodynamic design and consistent performance shine. They're an excellent choice for:

• New shooters developing proper shooting technique
• Hunters seeking reduced recoil without sacrificing effectiveness
• Extended hunting sessions where fatigue management matters
• Anyone looking to improve accuracy through better gun control

At 150 yards, Custom Lite slugs remain fully capable of taking Midwest whitetail cleanly and ethically.
