CMMG Dissent 9mm Upper Receiver: A New Approach to Compact AR Pistols
The Dissent represents CMMG's thoughtful answer to the evolving landscape of AR pistol design. Rather than relying on traditional buffer tube configurations, this upper receiver relocates the entire action and recoil assembly into the upper itself—a significant departure from conventional AR pistol architecture.
Key Features
- Compact Action Design: CMMG's patent-pending Compact Action and Radial Delayed Blowback system reduces overall length and bulk compared to traditional AR pistols
- Left-Side Charging Handle: Non-reciprocating side charger allows fast bolt manipulation while keeping your sight picture intact
- Armor Black Finish: Durable, professional appearance
- 6.5-inch Barrel: Optimized for 9mm performance in a compact package
- Linear Compensator: Factory-installed and zeroed for consistent performance
- 4.6-inch M-LOK Handguard: Provides ample mounting space for accessories without excess length
- Picatinny End Plate: Replaces the lower receiver buffer tube, enabling use with standard AR15 lower receivers
Compatibility
The Dissent upper works with:
- Mk4 and standard AR15 lower receivers (with CMMG 9AR conversion magazines)
- MkGs and Mk17 lower groups
Why the Dissent Matters
By consolidating the action into the upper receiver, CMMG has created a genuinely compact platform that sidesteps the traditional constraints of AR pistol design. The result is a more balanced, easier-to-operate firearm that maintains the modularity shooters expect from the AR platform.
