Hornady Subsonic 45-70 Govt 410gr Sub-X

Hornady Subsonic 45-70 Government Ammunition

Hornady Subsonic ammunition represents a thoughtful approach to rifle shooting—one that prioritizes shooter comfort, training effectiveness, and practical performance without sacrificing accuracy.

The Sub-X Bullet Design

At the heart of this load is Hornady's Sub-X (Subsonic eXpanding) bullet. This 410-grain projectile features:

• Flex Tip hollow point for controlled expansion at subsonic velocities
• Long grooves in the gilding metal jacket to promote reliable bullet expansion
• Flat profile design that maintains accuracy even at reduced speeds

Performance Characteristics

Loaded to approximately 1,075 feet per second, this ammunition delivers:

• Reduced noise signature compared to standard rifle loads
• Decreased recoil for improved shooter control and follow-up accuracy
• Consistent performance whether fired suppressed or unsuppressed
• Reliable expansion at subsonic velocities without loss of accuracy

Ideal Applications

This load excels for new shooters seeking a more forgiving training experience, hunters using suppressed rifles, and anyone who values a quieter, more pleasant shooting session. The combination of lower noise and recoil makes extended practice sessions more enjoyable and sustainable.

Quality and Reliability

Hornady backs every round with high-quality cartridge cases and primers, ensuring the consistent performance and accuracy shooters have come to expect from the company's 70+ years of ammunition innovation.
