The PITS 2: Innovation in Non-Locking Design

Designed by British knifemaker Mike Read, the Spyderco PITS 2 represents a significant evolution in non-locking folding knife technology. This knife abandons traditional locking mechanisms in favor of something far more elegant: a dual-spring system machined directly into the handle scales.

How It Works

The PITS 2's mechanism consists of two integral spring arms that flex as you open the blade. These arms support the blade pivot and provide pressure against a notched-joint mechanism, which bears against a stop pin. The result is a smooth, reliable opening and closing action without any traditional lock.

Materials and Construction

Handle: Machined from solid 6AL-4V titanium with a matte finish, the handle scales provide exceptional durability and a refined aesthetic.

Blade: The 2.74" drop-point blade is crafted from M398 particle metallurgy stainless steel with a full-flat grind and satin finish. M398 offers excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance.

The PITS 2 is designed for any hand. Its symmetrical profile, fully accessible Trademark Round Hole, and reversible tip-up pocket clip make this knife equally at home in left or right-hand carry and operation.
