Important Considerations for 5.7x28 Brass
Modern 5.7x28 brass presents unique reloading characteristics that shooters should understand. The brass is fully annealed from case mouth to rim, which affects the reloading process in several ways:
Resizing: The soft brass rims can deform during resizing with standard universal shell holders, as the brass may be pushed into the primer relief hole. Lee recommends using their FN Shell Holder (LEE92183, sold separately) along with Lee Resizing Lubricant for optimal results.
Priming: Note that primers in factory ammunition are often staked or crimped in place. The soft brass cannot hold primers via press fit alone, which is why staking is necessary.
Trimming: If you use a trim die, be aware that plastic bushings may deform this soft brass. Lee can ream bushings to larger dimensions upon request to prevent damage.
Additional Requirements
Lee Resizing Lubricant is required for use with this die set. If you plan to use a Lee Pro Auto-Disk or Auto-Drum Powder Measure, you will need the short charging die LEE90668 (sold separately).
