Browning BLR Lightweight .270 Win Lever-Action Rifle

The Modern Lever-Action Hunting Rifle

The Browning BLR Lightweight represents a thoughtful evolution of lever-action rifle design. It combines the handling characteristics hunters have trusted for generations with the practical advantages of modern ammunition and detachable box magazine feeding.

Design and Function

The heart of the BLR is its strong multi-lug bolt and rack-and-pinion lever action, housed in a lightweight aluminum receiver. This design allows the rifle to safely handle modern hunting ammunition, including magnum calibers—a significant advantage over traditional lever-actions. The detachable box magazine system provides reliable feeding and easy ammunition changes in the field.

The four-position folding hammer offers an additional safety measure: full-cock, half-cock, folded, and fired positions. This thoughtful detail reflects Browning's attention to practical hunting needs.

Sighting and Accuracy

The rifle comes equipped with a low-profile adjustable square notch rear sight and a high-visibility front blade with gold bead on a raised ramp-style base. The receiver is tapped for scope mounts, allowing you to take full advantage of the rifle's range and accuracy potential.

Stock and Handling

The curved grip walnut stock is contoured for comfort and features cut checkering for secure handling. The classic Schnabel forearm tip adds both style and functionality. A recoil pad helps reduce felt recoil and flinching—important considerations for extended hunting days. Pre-installed steel sling swivel studs make it simple to attach a sling or bipod.
