Howa M1500 Mini Hunter: Compact Power in Classic Dress
The Howa M1500 Mini Hunter represents a thoughtful approach to rifle design. This compact rifle chambers the 7.62x39 cartridge—a capable round for hunting medium game and target shooting—in a scaled-down action that delivers genuine advantages.
Design and Handling
The Mini Action is 12 percent shorter than standard short actions, with a correspondingly shorter bolt throw. This isn't mere specification chasing; it translates to faster reloads and quicker follow-up shots when they matter. The walnut stock features checkering for secure grip in varied conditions, while sling swivel studs allow you to carry the rifle comfortably afield.
Mechanical Excellence
Trigger System: Howa's two-stage HACT trigger breaks cleanly and predictably—a feature usually found on rifles costing considerably more.
Barrel: The 22-inch threaded barrel is drawn steel, providing a solid foundation for accuracy. Threading allows for suppressor mounting or muzzle device installation to suit your needs.
Safety and Reliability: A three-position safety keeps the rifle secure until you're ready, while the drilled and tapped receiver accepts standard scope bases and rings.
The Practical Choice
This is a rifle built for hunters and shooters who value function over flash. The walnut and blued steel combination ages gracefully and performs reliably in the field. Whether you're hunting or shooting targets, the M1500 Mini Hunter delivers accuracy and dependability at a fair price.
