Springfield Armory XD Service Model .40 S&W 4" CA Compliant

The Springfield Armory XD Service Model: Defensive Excellence in .40 S&W

The XD Service Model represents a refined approach to defensive handgun design, combining proven ergonomics with practical features that serve both experienced shooters and those new to centerfire pistols.

Safety First

Springfield Armory engineered multiple safety systems into this platform:

• Grip Safety: Prevents accidental discharge if the gun is dropped or mishandled
• Ultra Safety Assurance (USA) Action Trigger System: A clean, predictable trigger pull
• Firing Pin Block Safety: Mechanical protection against unintended firing
• Loaded Chamber Indicator: Visual and tactile confirmation of chambered rounds
• Striker Status Indicator: Shows whether the firing pin is cocked and ready

Built for Durability

The XD Service Model features a forged slide and hammer-forged barrel finished in Melonite—a process that creates a corrosion-resistant surface capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions. The stainless steel slide resists rust and wear, while the black polymer frame provides a comfortable, non-slip grip with integrated stippling for enhanced control.

Practical Design

• 4" Service-Length Barrel: Balances accuracy with portability for concealed carry or duty use
• Picatinny Rail: Accommodates lights, lasers, and other tactical accessories
• Ambidextrous Magazine Release: Operates smoothly for both right and left-handed shooters
• White Dot Sights: Steel sights for reliable target acquisition in varied lighting
• 10-Round Magazine Capacity: California-compliant configuration; two magazines included

The XD Grip Advantage

The XD's superior grip angle and hand-filling design reduce muzzle flip and recoil impulse, making follow-up shots faster and more accurate. This ergonomic foundation makes the .40 S&W round more manageable for shooters of all experience levels.

Whether you're building your first defensive handgun or adding to an established collection, the Springfield Armory XD Service Model delivers reliability, safety, and shootability in a proven platform.
