Sierra GameKing 55gr Hollow Point Boat Tail .224
Sierra's 55-grain GameKing hollow point boat tail bullets deliver rapid expansion on varmints and small game with match-grade accuracy. Boat tail design reduces drag for flatter trajectories and less wind drift. 100 rounds per box.
Sierra GameKing 55gr Hollow Point Boat Tail Bullets
The Sierra GameKing #1390 represents a time-tested solution for the varmint hunter who demands both accuracy and reliable expansion. Introduced in 1984, these 55-grain hollow point boat tail bullets have earned their reputation through consistent performance across a wide range of .22 centerfire rifles.
Design and Performance
Boat Tail Advantage
- Streamlined tapered base design significantly reduces aerodynamic drag
- Results in higher retained velocity downrange
- Delivers greater striking energy at distance
- Produces flatter trajectory and minimal wind drift
- Ballistic coefficients range from .185 to .193 depending on velocity
Hollow Point Construction
- Large, open point cavity ensures rapid, devastating expansion
- Particularly effective on varmints and small game
- Dependable performance across most .22 centerfire cartridges
- Cavernous opening provides consistent terminal performance
Accuracy and Reliability
These bullets are built with Sierra's high-velocity design, capable of delivering match-grade accuracy in most rifles. The combination of precise manufacturing and aerodynamic efficiency makes them ideal for long-range varmint shooting where both accuracy and expansion are critical considerations.
Note: Not recommended for the smallest .22 centerfire cartridges where case capacity limits muzzle velocities with 55-grain projectiles.
