Sierra 1370 Varminter .224 63gr Semi-Point Bullets

Sierra 1370 Varminter Bullets: Purpose-Built for Varmint Hunting

Sierra's 1370 Varminter bullets are engineered specifically for rapid expansion and clean kills on varmints and small game. The semi-point design offers distinct advantages for shooters using rifles with moderate twist rates or those seeking reliable performance across a range of velocities.

Design and Performance

The semi-point profile features a generous exposed lead tip and a slightly enlarged jacket opening, promoting faster expansion than traditional spitzer designs. This geometry reduces overall bullet length for the given weight, improving stabilization in rifles with slower twist rates while remaining fully compatible with modern, faster-twist barrels.

Ballistic Specifications:

• Caliber: .224
• Weight: 63 grains
• Sectional Density: .179
• Ballistic Coefficient: .231 (2800+ fps), .235 (2000–2800 fps), .240 (below 2000 fps)
• Box Count: 100 rounds

Why Choose Semi-Point?

The semi-point design strikes a practical balance. While ballistic coefficient is lower than comparable spitzer bullets, the improved expansion characteristics and easier stabilization make these rounds ideal for:

• Varmint hunting with rifles featuring moderate twist rates
• Shooters prioritizing reliable expansion over maximum range
• Hunters seeking accuracy without sacrificing terminal performance
• Fur-bearing game where pelt preservation is a consideration

Velocity Considerations

These bullets perform optimally at 2500 fps and above, with excellent expansion characteristics in the 2800+ fps range. They remain effective at lower velocities while maintaining the structural integrity needed for the highest safe muzzle velocities in their intended cartridges.

Sierra's Varminter line combines proven accuracy with dependable terminal performance—a trusted choice for generations of varmint hunters.
