Sierra GameKing 6mm 85-Grain Hollow Point Boat Tail Bullets
The Sierra GameKing #1530 represents one of the most versatile hunting bullets available for 6mm cartridges. These 85-grain projectiles combine the accuracy of match-grade bullets with the reliable expansion needed for ethical hunting.
Design and Performance
Boat Tail Advantage
- Streamlined tapered base design significantly reduces aerodynamic drag
- Results in higher retained velocity downrange
- Delivers greater striking energy at distance
- Produces flatter trajectories and minimal wind drift
- Ballistic coefficient of .311 at 1800 fps and above
Ideal Applications
These bullets excel across a wide range of shooting scenarios:
- Medium Game: Highly effective on deer and antelope at extended ranges
- Varmint Hunting: Outstanding performance on prairie dogs, groundhogs, and coyotes
- Rifle Compatibility: Excellent choice for 6mm Remington, .243 Winchester, and other 6mm cartridges
- Handgun Use: Nearly ideal for 6mm BR and larger wildcat cartridges in single-shot handguns like the Remington XP-100
Bullet Characteristics
The hollow point design provides reliable expansion while maintaining the accuracy characteristics of a match bullet. This bullet shoots like a MatchKing and expands like a hunting bullet—a rare combination that makes it one of the most recommended 6mm projectiles for serious hunters and shooters.
