Winchester's legendary Model 70 bolt-action rifle in compact form. Features a 20" featherweight barrel, satin walnut stock with shorter length of pull, controlled round feed, and MOA trigger system.
Since 1936, the Winchester Model 70 has set the standard by which all other bolt-action rifles are measured. This Featherweight Compact version brings that legendary reliability and accuracy to shooters who prefer a lighter, more maneuverable rifle.
The Model 70 starts with a forged steel receiver machined from a solid block of steel. The flat bottom profile provides maximum surface area for bedding, which is accomplished using a two-part epoxy at both the front and rear. This dual-point bedding system ensures the action remains stable and consistent through every shot.
The Pre-'64 style controlled round feed system features a massive claw extractor that secures approximately one-quarter of the cartridge base. This design maintains full control of the round from the magazine through chamber and extraction—even allowing you to extract an unfired cartridge that hasn't fully chambered.
This Featherweight Compact model features a shorter barrel and stock with reduced length of pull, making it ideal for hunters navigating thick brush or shooters who prefer a lighter, faster-handling rifle. The satin walnut stock displays classic featherweight cut checkering and a Schnabel forearm for enhanced grip and control.
The alloy one-piece bottom metal and polished metal surfaces combine durability with classic aesthetics. A Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad manages recoil while the forged steel short action receiver with integral recoil lug provides the foundation for consistent, reliable performance.
