FN 509 Tactical: Purpose-Built Performance
The FN 509 Tactical represents a significant evolution in the FN 509 platform. Based on FN's submission pistol for the U.S. Army's Modular Handgun Trials, this model incorporates all the refinements that made the 509 a standout performer, plus tactical enhancements designed for serious shooters.
Optics Integration
The standout feature is FN's patented Low-Profile Optics Mounting System. This innovative design allows you to mount any of more than ten commercially available miniature red dot optics while maintaining co-witness capability with the suppressor-height night sights. The system is future-proof—new optics can be accommodated without requiring direct slide milling.
Slide and Sighting System
The slide cap features raised sight wings that protect your iron sights if the pistol is dropped or jostled. The textured ramp on the slide cap allows you to rack the slide efficiently using a belt loop, pant pocket, or boot—a practical feature for tactical applications.
Barrel and Suppressor Compatibility
The 4.5-inch cold hammer-forged stainless-steel barrel features a target crown and 1/2" x 28 threads that accept the vast majority of 9mm suppressors on the market. The integrated O-ring thread cap prevents loosening during use, ensuring reliability.
Ergonomics and Capacity
The 509 Tactical ships with two interchangeable backstraps, allowing you to customize the grip to your hand size. You'll receive one 17-round magazine and one 24-round magazine. The 24-round magazines are nearly identical in length to the slide, maximizing ammunition capacity without compromising carry convenience.
