Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy: Modern Double-Stack Performance

Springfield Armory has reimagined the classic 1911 platform with the DS Prodigy, combining traditional 1911 ergonomics with modern double-stack capacity and performance features.

Design & Construction

The Prodigy features a forged carbon steel frame and slide finished in durable Coyote Brown Cerakote. The polymer grip module is mounted securely to the forged steel frame, providing a comfortable and controllable shooting platform. This modern approach maintains the 1911's legendary handling characteristics while significantly increasing magazine capacity.

Accuracy & Barrel

The 4.25-inch match-grade bull barrel features an 11-degree crown for exceptional accuracy. This shorter barrel length makes the Prodigy an excellent choice for defensive carry while maintaining the precision expected from a 1911-pattern pistol.

Optics Ready

The slide is milled for the Agency Optic System (AOS) mounting plates, making it compatible with modern red dot sights. The system includes an integrated rear sight for proper alignment and an intuitive sight picture. A HEX Dragonfly-compatible plate ships with the pistol, and additional optic-specific plates are available separately.

Sights & Controls

Standard sights include a fiber optic front sight paired with a black serrated rear sight, providing excellent visibility in various lighting conditions.

Capacity & Magazines

The double-stack magazine design delivers two 10-round magazines, making this an excellent choice for shooters in capacity-restricted states while providing modern firepower.
