HS Locator Coyote Howler Predator Call
Purpose and Performance
This is a specialized locator call engineered to provoke gobbling responses from wild turkeys. The coyote howl is one of the most effective sounds for triggering a tom's competitive instinct, making this call invaluable during spring turkey season when you need to locate birds across distance.
Construction and Design
Materials:
- Wood barrel construction for authentic resonance
- High-density plastic horn for superior sound projection
- Injection-molded internal mechanism
- Precision .014 reed for consistent, realistic tone
The combination of wood and high-density plastic creates a call that projects sound effectively across open terrain while maintaining the acoustic characteristics that turkeys respond to instinctively.
Practical Application
This call excels at:
- Locating turkeys from distance (reportedly effective up to a mile away under ideal conditions)
- Triggering gobbling responses to pinpoint bird locations
- Working in open country and mixed terrain
- Early morning scouting before your primary hunting setup
Why It Works
Wild turkeys are naturally competitive. A coyote howl—a predator sound—activates their territorial response, causing gobblers to reveal their location through answering gobbles. This makes the HS Locator an essential tool for modern turkey hunters who rely on locating birds before closing the distance with other calls.
