Leupold VX-R 4-12x40mm Ballistic Reticle Riflescope
Overview
The Leupold VX-R represents a straightforward approach to rifle optics: reliable magnification, clear glass, and a functional reticle that works when it matters. This 4-12x40mm configuration strikes a practical balance between light gathering and magnification range, making it equally at home on a hunting rifle or a sport shooting platform.
Key Features
- Magnification Range: 4-12x variable power for adaptability across shooting distances
- Objective Lens: 40mm for solid light transmission and field of view
- Reticle: Ballistic design for holdover calculations at extended ranges
- Optical Coatings: Multi-coated lenses to maximize light transmission and image clarity
- Construction: Built to Leupold's standards for durability and reliability
Performance Characteristics
The 4-12x magnification range provides flexibility. At 4x, you maintain a wider field of view suitable for closer work or moving targets. Dial up to 12x for precision shooting at distance. The ballistic reticle eliminates guesswork—the subtensions are designed to help you make accurate holdovers without constant turret adjustments.
The 40mm objective gathers sufficient light for early morning and late evening hunting, while keeping the overall package reasonably compact and balanced on most rifle platforms.
A Practical Tool
This scope does what it's designed to do without unnecessary complexity. It's the kind of optic that builds confidence through consistent performance.
