Savage A17 WSM Sporter 22" Rimfire Rifle

Savage A17 WSM Sporter: Purpose-Built Rimfire Performance

Savage Arms engineered the A17 platform from the ground up as a high-performance semi-automatic rimfire specifically for the 17 WSM cartridge. This rifle represents a significant advancement in rimfire rifle design, combining proven mechanical principles with modern ergonomics.

Action and Reliability

The delayed-blowback action ensures safe, reliable cycling with standard 17 WSM loads. This design philosophy—favored by serious shooters for decades—provides consistent performance without unnecessary complexity. The hard chrome bolt features an oversized handle for positive control in all conditions, while the case-hardened receiver provides durability for years of use.

Accuracy Features

AccuTrigger Technology: The user-adjustable AccuTrigger delivers a crisp, light pull that enhances accuracy without sacrificing safety. You can fine-tune the trigger to your preference—a feature typically found only on premium rifles.

Barrel and Rifling: The 22-inch button-rifled barrel is finished in high luster and features a 1-in-8 twist rate optimized for 17 WSM ballistics. This length balances velocity gains with practical handling.

Magazine and Capacity

The 8-round rotary magazine loads smoothly and feeds reliably. The rotary design—superior to box magazines for rimfire ammunition—ensures consistent feeding and easy unloading.

Stock and Handling

The gray wood-laminate sporter stock provides increased rigidity compared to traditional wood, reducing vibration and improving shot-to-shot consistency. The matte finish resists glare and wear. Overall length is 41.5 inches with a 13.5-inch length of pull, suitable for most shooters. The rifle weighs 5.63 pounds—light enough for extended hunting sessions yet substantial enough for stable shooting.

Ideal Applications

This rifle excels at varmint hunting, target shooting, and small-game hunting where the 17 WSM's flat trajectory and minimal recoil shine. The AccuTrigger and quality barrel make it competitive for rimfire precision shooting.
