Springfield Armory has reimagined the classic 1911 for modern shooters with the Prodigy Comp—a double-stack 9mm that combines proven 1911 ergonomics with contemporary performance features.

Design & Construction

The Prodigy Comp builds on the legendary 1911 platform but reconfigures it around a double-stack magazine system for increased capacity. The forged steel frame pairs with a forged carbon steel slide finished in Coyote Brown Cerakote, creating a durable, corrosion-resistant platform. The polymer grip module is ergonomic and reliable, while the 5-inch forged stainless steel barrel features a match-grade bull profile with a 1:16 twist rate optimized for 9mm ammunition.

Performance Features

Integral Compensator: The slide incorporates an integrally compensated barrel assembly designed to reduce muzzle rise and improve shot-to-shot recovery. This is particularly valuable for rapid fire or competition shooting.

Optics Ready: The AOS-compatible slide is cut and ready for modern red-dot sight mounting, allowing you to tailor the pistol to your preferred aiming system.

Accessory Rail: A Picatinny rail under the dust cover accepts lights, lasers, and other modern tactical accessories.

Sights & Controls

Tritium front sight with serrated rear sight provides reliable target acquisition in low-light conditions. The 1911's proven controls—thumb safety, grip safety, and slide stop—are familiar to shooters of all experience levels.
