Winchester Model 70 Super Grade 270 Win 24" Walnut

The Winchester Model 70 Super Grade: American Rifle Excellence

Since 1936, the Winchester Model 70 has set the standard by which all bolt-action rifles are measured. This Super Grade variant represents the pinnacle of Winchester's commitment to accuracy, reliability, and timeless craftsmanship.

Action and Feeding System

The Model 70 features Winchester's legendary Pre-'64 Controlled Round Feed system. The massive claw extractor smoothly engages approximately one-quarter of the cartridge base, maintaining full control from magazine to chamber through ejection. This design provides several advantages:

• Reliable feeding in all conditions
• Ability to extract unfired cartridges even if not fully chambered
• Smooth, controlled operation

The forged steel receiver begins as a solid block of steel, with a flat bottom profile that maximizes bedding surface area. Two-part epoxy bedding at front and rear ensures the action remains stable during firing.

Trigger and Safety

The MOA Trigger System represents the most precise three-lever trigger mechanism available. The famous three-position safety operates conveniently with your firing hand thumb, lifting the firing pin away from the sear for positive control.

Barrel and Accuracy

The cold hammer-forged, free-floating barrel features button rifling for superior accuracy and durability. A recessed target crown protects the muzzle while promoting consistent accuracy. The barrel is drilled and tapped for scope mounting.

Stock and Furniture

The Super Grade showcases Grade IV/V fancy black walnut with a shadowline cheekpiece that positions your eye perfectly for scope alignment. Cut checkering at 20 lines per inch provides both grip and beauty. A one-piece steel bottom metal with hinged floorplate adds rigidity to the stock-action interface.

Fine details include a jeweled bolt body, knurled bolt handle, engraved hinged floorplate, and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Steel sling swivel studs are integral to the stock.
