The Rascal: Built for Young Shooters
The Savage Rascal represents a thoughtful approach to introducing young shooters to rifle marksmanship. This single-shot .22 LR rifle prioritizes safety, accuracy, and skill development in equal measure.
Safety First
The Rascal's design philosophy centers on safe handling. The rifle cocks by lifting the bolt—a straightforward, intuitive motion. Equally important, shooters can unload the rifle without pulling the trigger, eliminating a common source of accidental discharge. A manual safety provides additional security.
Built for Smaller Hands
With an 11.25-inch length of pull and a 31.5-inch overall length, the Rascal fits young shooters comfortably. The hardwood stock provides a traditional, durable platform that will withstand years of use.
Full-Size Rifle Features
Despite its youth-oriented design, the Rascal doesn't compromise on capability:
- Adjustable AccuTrigger: Savage's user-adjustable trigger delivers a crisp release with no creep. Adjustment requires no gunsmith—a valuable feature for shooters learning proper trigger control.
- Adjustable peep sights: Precision aiming without the cost or complexity of optics.
- 16.13-inch barrel: Accurate and handy.
- Drilled and tapped receiver: Ready for scope mounting when the shooter is ready to advance.
- Single-shot feed ramp: Encourages deliberate, thoughtful shooting.
The Platform for Skill Building
The Rascal builds superior shooting fundamentals. Its manual operation demands attention to each step of the firing sequence. Young shooters learn proper sight picture, trigger control, and follow-through—skills that transfer to any firearm they may use later.
