Sierra MatchKing 142gr 6.5mm Bullets
The 6.5mm cartridge has experienced a remarkable resurgence in popularity. Modern rifle manufacturers now produce 6.5x55mm sporters, introducing a new generation of shooters to this legendary Scandinavian cartridge. Competitive High Power and Silhouette shooters have embraced the 6.5mm bore for its inherent accuracy potential.
Design and Performance
Sierra's 142-grain MatchKing bullet features a longer ogive radius compared to lighter alternatives, resulting in a higher ballistic coefficient and reduced wind drift sensitivity. This design delivers the record-setting accuracy MatchKing bullets are known for worldwide.
Key Features
- Ballistic Coefficient: Higher than comparable lighter bullets
- Wind Drift: Reduced sensitivity to crosswinds
- Accuracy: Proven performance in competitive shooting
- Quantity: 500 bullets per box
- Barrel Twist: Requires 1:8" or faster twist rate
Important Considerations
MatchKing bullets are engineered for precision target shooting and competitive applications. They are not recommended for hunting, as their design does not provide reliable expansion on game animals. While sometimes used for varmint work, they do not deliver the explosive expansion of purpose-built varmint bullets at equivalent velocities.
These bullets are ideal for shooters seeking maximum accuracy in competition or precision rifle applications.
