Sierra MatchKing 6.5mm 144-Grain Bullets
The 6.5mm bore has experienced a remarkable resurgence in popularity among shooters. Modern rifle manufacturers are producing 6.5x55mm sporting rifles that introduce new generations to this legendary Scandinavian cartridge, while competitive High-Power and Silhouette shooters continue to embrace the 6.5mm's inherent accuracy potential.
Purpose and Performance
Sierra's 144-grain MatchKing bullet (#1744) represents a superb choice for competitive shooters engaging targets at ranges extending to 1000 yards. These bullets excel in medium- and high-capacity 6.5mm cartridges where precision and consistency are paramount.
Design and Accuracy
MatchKing bullets are recognized worldwide for their record-setting accuracy. The hollow-point boat-tail design minimizes drag and provides exceptional ballistic coefficients, delivering the consistency that competitive shooters demand.
Important Considerations
MatchKing bullets are optimized for target shooting and precision applications. They are not recommended for hunting applications where reliable expansion is critical. While sometimes used for varmint hunting, their design does not provide the same reliable explosive expansion as Sierra's purpose-built Hornet Blitz or Varminter bullets.
