Savage Axis 2 Pro Forest SP Compact Rifle in 6mm ARC
The Axis 2 Pro represents Savage's commitment to delivering a modern, ergonomic hunting rifle that doesn't compromise on accuracy or reliability. Chambered in 6mm ARC—a cartridge gaining recognition for its ballistic efficiency and moderate recoil—this compact rifle is purpose-built for hunters who demand precision in a manageable package.
Barrel and Action
The 19-inch heavy sporter barrel features spiral fluting that reduces weight while improving heat dissipation. A Gun Metal Bronze Cerakote finish protects against corrosion and provides a professional appearance. The barrel is threaded (5/8x24) for suppressor or muzzle device compatibility. The 1:7.5-inch twist rate stabilizes 6mm ARC ammunition across the full spectrum of available bullet weights.
The right-hand bolt action incorporates Savage's updated, ergonomic bolt handle design for smooth, confident operation. Thread-in headspacing ensures precision fit and reliability.
Trigger and Controls
The user-adjustable AccuTrigger is a hallmark of Savage rifles. Shooters can customize pull weight from 2.5 to 6 pounds, allowing you to dial in the exact feel you prefer. Magazine release is ambidextrous, accommodating both right- and left-handed shooters.
Stock and Ergonomics
The Forest SP camo synthetic stock features ambidextrous palm swells for a secure, comfortable grip. A textured coating enhances control in wet conditions. Two quick-detach sling studs (black) are included for easy attachment of hunting slings or tactical gear.
Accuracy and Adaptability
A one-piece, 0 MOA Picatinny rail provides a solid mounting platform for optics. The detachable box magazine holds four rounds and is easily removed for reloading or magazine changes. Overall length is 39.5 inches, and the rifle weighs 6.7 pounds—ideal for hunters who spend long days in the field.
The 6mm ARC Advantage
The 6mm ARC cartridge delivers excellent ballistics in a compact, efficient package. It offers superior velocity and energy retention compared to traditional intermediate cartridges, making it an excellent choice for medium to large game at reasonable hunting distances.
