Savage Axis 2 Pro: Compact Precision for the Serious Hunter
The Savage Axis 2 Pro represents a thoughtful evolution in affordable rifle design. This compact bolt-action rifle in 7mm-08 Remington delivers the power needed for ethical big game hunting in a package that handles like a dream in tight cover or from a tree stand.
Barrel and Action
The 20-inch heavy sporter barrel features spiral fluting—a design choice that reduces weight while maintaining rigidity and improving heat dissipation. The Gun Metal Bronze Cerakote finish provides genuine corrosion resistance, not merely cosmetic appeal. The threaded muzzle (5/8x24) accepts suppressors or muzzle devices, giving you flexibility for your hunting setup.
The bolt operates with a smooth, ergonomic handle that functions reliably in all conditions. Thread-in headspacing ensures proper chamber dimensions right from the factory.
Trigger and Controls
The user-adjustable AccuTrigger is a genuine advantage. You can customize pull weight from 2.5 to 6 pounds, allowing you to dial in the exact break you prefer. The side bolt release and ambidextrous magazine release accommodate both right and left-handed shooters.
Stock and Ergonomics
The Forest SP camo synthetic stock features ambidextrous palm swells and a textured coating for secure handling in wet conditions. Two quick-detach studs accept standard sling attachments. At 39.5 inches overall and 6.8 pounds, this rifle remains genuinely portable.
Accuracy and Adaptability
The one-piece 0 MOA Picatinny rail provides a solid foundation for optics mounting. The detachable four-round box magazine ensures reliable feeding and quick reloads. This is a rifle built for hunters who understand that accuracy and reliability matter more than unnecessary features.
The 7mm-08 Remington cartridge delivers sufficient power for deer, elk, and similar game while remaining manageable in recoil—particularly important in a compact rifle.
