Springfield Armory XD9821 9mm Sub-Compact Pistol

Springfield Armory XD9821: Compact Carry Excellence

The XD9821 represents Springfield Armory's commitment to delivering a defensive pistol that balances genuine concealment with reliable performance. This California-compliant sub-compact model chambers 9mm Luger and measures just 6.25 inches in length with a 1.2-inch grip width—dimensions that make it genuinely concealable under light clothing.

Safety Architecture

Springfield engineered three independent safety systems into this platform:

• Grip Safety: Prevents accidental discharge if the pistol is dropped or mishandled
• Ultra Safety Assurance (USA) Action Trigger System: A clean, predictable trigger pull
• Firing Pin Block Safety: Mechanical insurance against unintended firing

These systems work together to create a defensive tool you can trust completely.

Mechanical Design

The XD9821 features a hammer-forged barrel and forged slide—manufacturing methods that produce superior strength and durability. The 3-inch barrel wears a Melonite finish that resists corrosion in harsh environments. The stainless steel slide provides visual appeal while the black polymer frame keeps weight at a mere 26 ounces.

Practical Features

• Picatinny Rail: Accommodates modern tactical lights and lasers
• White Dot 3-Dot Sights: Dovetail-mounted for quick target acquisition
• Ambidextrous Magazine Release: Operates smoothly for both right and left-handed shooters
• Loaded Chamber Indicator: Visual and tactile confirmation of chambered round
• Striker Status Indicator: Shows whether the striker is cocked
• Dual Captive Recoil Spring with Full-Length Guide Rod: Ensures reliable cycling and longevity

Capacity and Magazines

This California-compliant model ships with two 10-round magazines. The flush magazine keeps the grip compact, while an extended magazine option adds capacity for those who prefer a longer grip.

The XD9821 delivers serious defensive capability in a package small enough to carry comfortably all day.
