Ruger's Hawkeye Hunter in .308 Winchester delivers precision with a 20" cold hammer-forged stainless barrel, American walnut stock, and Mauser-type controlled round feed. Threaded for suppressors, 4-round capacity, 7 lbs.
The Hawkeye Hunter represents Ruger's commitment to producing a rifle that works as hard as the hunter who carries it. Chambered in the versatile .308 Winchester, this rifle combines time-tested mechanical principles with modern refinements.
At the heart of the Hawkeye Hunter lies a non-rotating Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor—one of the most reliable case extraction systems ever developed. This design, paired with a fixed blade-type ejector, ensures positive ejection of empty cases as the bolt cycles fully rearward. The rifle features a rugged one-piece stainless steel bolt and a hinged solid-steel floorplate for convenient unloading without cycling each round through the chamber.
The free-floated, cold hammer-forged stainless steel barrel measures 20 inches with a 1:10" right-hand twist and features Ruger's 5R rifling at minimum bore and groove dimensions. This precision engineering, combined with minimum headspace and a centralized chamber, delivers the accuracy serious shooters demand. The barrel arrives factory-threaded (5/8"-24) with a thread protector installed, ready for suppressor mounting.
The American walnut stock features rounded contours along the barrel and pistol grip, with wrap-around checkering on the grip and forend for secure handling in all conditions. A three-position safety allows you to lock the bolt or load and unload with the safety engaged—a practical feature in the field.
A 20 MOA Picatinny rail secured with four screws sits atop the solid-steel receiver, providing increased elevation adjustment for long-range shooting beyond what traditional integral scope mounts offer. Sling swivel studs are included.
The LC6 trigger delivers smooth, crisp performance right out of the box. The rifle weighs 7 pounds, measures 40 inches overall, and features a 13.5-inch length of pull.
