Springfield Armory has reimagined the 1911 platform for the modern shooter. The DS Prodigy combines the ergonomic excellence and reliability of the classic 1911 with double-stack magazine capacity—delivering 17+1 or 20+1 rounds depending on which magazine you load.

Design & Construction

The Prodigy features a forged steel frame paired with a forged carbon steel slide finished in Black Cerakote. The polymer grip module is fully reconfigured around the double-stack magazine well, providing a comfortable grip angle while maintaining the familiar 1911 controls. An integral compensator on the optics-ready slide helps manage recoil and muzzle rise.

Sights & Optics

This Gear Pac model ships with a factory-installed Viridian RFX11 green dot sight featuring Instant-On technology and an impressive 30,000-hour runtime. The fiber front sight and U-notch rear sight provide a solid backup aiming system. The slide is fully milled for optics mounting, giving you flexibility to customize your setup.

Controls & Handling

Ambidextrous safety levers ensure left and right-handed shooters can operate the pistol intuitively. The Picatinny rail under the dust cover accepts lights, lasers, and other tactical accessories. A two-piece full-length guide rod system manages recoil smoothly and reliably.
