The Taurus 856: Practical Revolver Design

The Taurus 856 represents a straightforward approach to personal defense and everyday carry. This 6-shot revolver chambers the .38 Special cartridge—a round that has proven itself reliable for over a century.

Key Features

Caliber & Capacity: .38 Special, 6-round cylinder
Barrel Length: 2 inches—short enough for concealment, long enough for practical accuracy
Action: Double/single action for versatility and speed
Grips: Walnut construction provides a natural feel and classic appearance
Finish: Matte black reduces glare and conceals wear
Weight: Approximately 22 ounces—light enough for all-day carry

Practical Advantages

The .38 Special's moderate recoil makes follow-up shots manageable for shooters of all experience levels. The cartridge accepts everything from light target loads to modern self-defense ammunition, giving you flexibility at the range and in the field.

The 2-inch barrel strikes a balance between concealability and sight radius. The double/single action trigger allows you to carry safely with the hammer down, then fire in single action for improved accuracy if needed.

Suitable For

Conceal carry, home defense, backup duty, and range practice. The walnut grips and compact profile make this revolver comfortable for extended shooting sessions.
