The 856's compact dimensions and light weight make it genuinely concealable. At 16 ounces, it won't burden you during extended carry. The 2-inch barrel balances controllability with adequate velocity for .38 Special and +P loads.
The double/single action trigger allows you to carry with the hammer down on a loaded chamber—a proven defensive carry method. The transfer bar safety prevents accidental discharge if the revolver is dropped or struck.
Practical Advantages
The revolver's simplicity is its strength. No magazines to lose. No slide to rack under stress. The fixed sights won't snag on clothing during the draw. The soft rubber grips absorb recoil and provide a secure purchase whether you're wearing gloves or not.
Whether you choose target loads for practice or quality defensive ammunition, the 856 delivers reliable performance. It's a revolver that asks nothing of you except proper maintenance and regular practice.
