Savage Axis 2 Pro: Modern Hunting Rifle Engineering
The Savage Axis 2 Pro represents a thoughtful evolution in hunting rifle design. Chambered in .400 Legend, this bolt-action rifle combines proven reliability with contemporary ergonomics and practical features that matter in the field.
Barrel and Action
The 20-inch heavy sporter barrel features spiral fluting—a design choice that reduces weight while improving heat dissipation during extended shooting sessions. A Gun Metal Bronze Cerakote finish protects the carbon steel barrel from the elements. The barrel is threaded (5/8x24) for suppressor or muzzle device compatibility.
The bolt operates with a refined, ergonomic handle that cycles smoothly in all conditions. Thread-in headspacing ensures consistent ammunition fit and performance.
Trigger and Controls
Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger is a standout feature. You can customize the trigger pull between 2.5 and 6 pounds to suit your shooting style and hunting needs. This level of control is typically found on rifles costing significantly more.
Ambidextrous magazine release and side bolt release provide intuitive operation for both right and left-handed shooters.
Stock and Ergonomics
The Forest SP camo synthetic stock features a textured coating for secure handling in wet conditions. Ambidextrous palm swells accommodate various grip preferences. Two quick-detach studs (black) accept standard sling attachments.
Accuracy and Mounting
A one-piece 0 MOA Picatinny rail provides a solid foundation for optics. The detachable box magazine holds four rounds and feeds reliably.
