Springfield Armory has taken the timeless 1911 platform and evolved it for today's shooter. The DS Prodigy combines the ergonomic familiarity of the 1911 with a double-stack magazine design that delivers 10-round capacity—perfect for shooters in states with magazine restrictions or those who simply want more rounds downrange.
Design and Construction
The Prodigy features a billet aluminum frame paired with a forged carbon steel slide, both finished in durable Cerakote. The 4.25" heavy bull barrel is match-grade quality, machined from forged stainless steel and finished in black DLC for corrosion resistance. This is a serious defensive and target pistol built to exacting standards.
Optics-Ready Platform
The slide is machined with Springfield's exclusive Agency Optic System (AOS) plates, engineered specifically for the 1911 DS platform. These billet steel plates deliver proper optic height for an intuitive sight picture and feature an integral rear sight. The factory-installed Viridian RFX11 green dot optic provides fast target acquisition with Instant-On technology and an impressive 30,000-hour runtime.
